~~, COUNTY OF K E R R ... WHEREAS, on the 10th day of June, 1946, a petition was presented to me ~~
', for an election in Hunt Common School District No. 5 of this County on the question of increas-
ing the school Lax of said district to the rate of $1,50 on the $100 valun tion of taxable pro-
~, party in said District, for the purpose of supplementing the State School Fadd apportioned to
said district, said petition bearing the requisite number oY signatures of resident qualified
/ (l / property tazpaydng voters of said district who ovm taxable property in said dietri ct and who
/ i have duly rendered the same for taxation and being in every respect in confo ffi1 ty with law;
and, It apc sari ng that Kerr County contains a population of 11,650 according to the last Uatte
State9 Census; and, It further appearing that said IIunt Common Spool District No. 5 has been
heretofore properly established; and, It further appearing that said district as so establiahe
contains an area of 110 square miles and no other district has been reduced in area below nine
square miles by reason of the creation of this district; Now, therefore, I, John S. Atkins, in
my official capaci. ty as County Judge of Kerr County, Texas, do hereby order that an election
be held nn the 29th day of June, 1946, at School House in said Hunt Common School District No.
5 of this County to determine whether a majority of the legally qualified property taxpaying
voters oY that Di etri ct desire to increase the tax supplementing th3 State Sohool Fund apport-
ion ed to said District, end to determine whether the Commiss ionera Court of this County shall

be authorized to levy, assess and collect annua lly a tax of and at the rate of X1.50 on the
X100 valuation of taxable property in said District for said purpose. Allen Townsend is hereb
appointed Presiding Offi csr for said election, and he shall select two judges and two clerks
_ to assist him in holding the same, and he shall, within fl ve days after said election has been
held, make due return thereof to the Commissioners Court of this County as is required by law
for holding a gene xal election. All pe xa one who are legally qualified voters of this State
and of this county and who are resident pm pe rty tax-payers in said district and who own taa-
able property in said district and who have duly rendered the same for taxation shall be en-
titled to vote at said election, and all voters who favor taxation for school purposes shall
have written or printed on their ballots the words
" FOR INCREASE OF SCHOOL TAX. "

On this the 10th day of June, A. D. 1946, it appearing to the Court that a County Surveyor
baibppointed to fill the baoan cy of said office, due to the death of A. L. Starkey, County
Surveyor; that said office be declared vacant, and a new County Surveyor be appointed by the
Court to fill the unexpired term of said office.
WHEREUPON, on motion duly m¢de, seconded and unanimously adopted, be and it is hereby
ordered by the Court that the office of County Surveyor of Kerr County shall be in all things
considered vacant, end that F. M. Kuykendall being qualified and desirous to serve out the
unexpired term of said office, be and he is hereby appointed by the Court to fill the unexpire~
term of the office of County Surveyor oP Kerr County, Texas, and he is hereby directed to
qualify for said office by making bond in the sum oY $2500.00 and taking the oath of ofPi ce as
