On this the 17th day oP September, 1948, came on to ba heard, at publ is beer ing, the
met ter of the adoption of the county budget Por the year 1949, and the fining and levying of
the tax rate for the county and various school diatrlets Por the year 1948. After the readiry
oP the tentative budget as prepared by John S. Atkins, County Judge, which provided for a
tentative taz rate of #.55 on the ,f 100.00 val cation, divided as follows: Jury Fund =.02,
General Fund x.25, %err County Road Benda 1931 Sinking Fund =.15, Courthouse and Jall Sinking
Fund =.10, Airport Benda Sinking Fund 1.03, there was a general disous eion between Lhe Lea
pagers present and the members of the Court as to the adv Saab it Sty of the adoption of the
x.55 rate ea proposed and the heaesaity oP Lhe levying of a ;.15 Road and bridge Fund Taz,
for Lhe purpose of aupplementiag the General Fund. John S. Atkins, County Judge, eaplsining

nee sanity for levying the x.15 tax in the Roed and Bridge Fund to supplement the General Fund
end Lhat with proper management the finances of the oounty could be kept on a sound, stable
beads without this additional levy. County Judge-e lent, Jim Weatherby, Sheriff-elect, Earl
l Garrett, Mrs. W. A. palter, Mrs. S. E. Thompson and H. J. Antoine, tax payers, being present,
at rosgly advooeted and urged the adoption of the inoraeaed tea rata for the purpose of supple
menting the General Fund.
