the Court that said claim is reasonable and dust and should be allowed. Therefore, by motion
duly made by Goff, seconded by Bartel, the vote having carried with Commissioner Powell absent,
the County Clerk be, and is hereby directed to draw voucher against the County Treasurer in the
amount of One Hundred Fifty and No/100 0150.00) Dollars, payable out of F. M. 689, in favor of
Jim Dale for 200 cedar posts at ~.75 each.

This the 24th day of September, A. D. 1953, came on to be considered by the Court, the app-
lication of Lawrence Stephens, County Clerk, for his authority to appoint and deputize Betty
Burney as Deputy County Clerk, and it appearing to the Court that said officer is entitled to
said deputy and that said application should be approved; therefore, by motion duly made by
Bartel, seconded by Guthrie, the vote having carried with Commissioner Powell absent, that said
officer is authorized to deputize said Betty Burney, and that said appointment date Prom Septem-
ber 24th, A. D. 1953, and to continue in fo rce until revoked by said officer or to be otherwise
terminated and that the compensation of said deputy is to be paid solely Prom the Pees of said
office.

This the 29th day of September, A. D. 1953, came on to be considered by the Court, the re-

quest of Newton C. 'Nharton, and the recommendation of Mr. Atlee to cease deductions of Social
Security on the salary of the part-time employment of Newton C. Wharton. Wherefore, the Court
has heretofore entered into a contract with the State Department of Public Welfare to withhold
Social Security on full-time employees on a salary or fee basis, excluding salary on any part-
time or on an emergency basis; and whereas, at the request of Newton C. 'Nharton, the County
Clerk and County Treasurer have heretofore deducted Social Security on his salary, and whereas,
the Court has been informed that Newton C. Wharton is presently receiving a Social Security

benefit check and is not authorized to make more than X75.00 per month from any agency withhold-
ing Social Security from his salary, and whereas, the Court having considered the aforementioned
.. request and recommendation, feels that it would be justified to direct that no further deductions
would be withheld on the aforementioned employee as long as he is employed on a part-time or
emergency basis, and that said employee should be reimbursed for the Social Security deductions
withheld for the quarter ending September 30th, 1953, out of the Kerr County Social Security
Fund. Therefore, by motion duly made by Guthrie, seconded by Goff, the vote having carried as
Bartel was absent, and it is so ordered that the County Clerk and County Treasurer be, and they
are hereby directed to cease the deduction of Social Security on Newton C. Wharton, as long as
he is employed on a part-time or emergency basis, and that said County Clerk and County Treasurer
be, and they are hereby directed to reimburse the Social Security withheld on any salary paid
to Newton C. 1Yharton for the quarter ending September 30th, 1953, payable out of the Social Secu-
rity Fund of Kerr County.

to confirm the weekly pay-roll of the laborers as per sworn affidavit filed with the County Cler
for the weeks of September 19th and 26th, and October. 3rd and 10th. It appearing to the Court
that said claims and accounts filed against each fund should be pai3, and that the payment of
the labor bills as per sworn affidavit filed with the County Clerk for the weeks of September
19th and 26th, and October 3rd and 10th, be confirmed as paid. Therefore, by motion duly made
by Guthrie, seconded by Povrell, and unanimously approved by the Court and the County Clerk. be,
and is hereby directed to draw vouchers against the County Treasurer on all claims filed in
like amounts therefor, payable out of the respective Punds to the parties entitled thereto; that
the labor bills be confirmed as paid, for the weeks of September 19th and 26th, and October 3rd
and 10th.
