ORDER SETTING COUNTY OFFICIALS ON FEE BASIS, SHERIFF AND JUSTICES EXCEPTED. STATE OF TEXAS: IN COMMISSIONERS' COURT, KERR COUNTY, TEXAS, JANUARY TERti, A. D. 1954. COUNTY OF KERR: This the 12th day of January, A. D. 1954, came on to be considered by the Court the provi- sions of Senate Bill ~r5, Chapter 465 passed at first called session oP the 44th Legislature prescribing compensation of District, County end Precinct Officers to be compensated on a fee basis and be allowed to retain the increased maximum as contemplated under Article #3891x, R. C. S., which also includes the increased compensation for the deputies for such various off- icers and the provision oP Article 3912e, Section 2, R. C. S., prescribing that the Peace Offi- cers be compensated on a salary basis, according to the provisions oP H. J. R. f;36 of the 50th Legislature, as adopted by the people in the general election of November 2, 1948, amending Section 61 oP Article 16 of the State Constitution as the same applies Por the payment oP salary of Sheriff and Constables in counties having a population of less than 20,000. It appearing to the Court that it is to the best interest of Kerr County and its Officers that all District, County and Precinct Officers of Kerr County, (with the exception oP Public tiYeigher, Registrar of Vital Statistics and County Surveyor), and with the exception of the Peace Officers, be com- pensated on the Pea basis and be allowed to retain the increased maximum as contemplated under Article 3891e, R. C. S. Therefore, by motion duly made by GoPY, seconded by Guthrie, and unanimously approved by the Court, that all District, County and Precinct Officers of Kerr County, (with exception of Public INeigher, Registrar oP Vital Statistics and County Surveyor), and with exception of Peace Officers, shell retain such maximum fees as are earned by them in the performance oP their official duties as contemplated under Article 3891e, R. C. S., which also includes the increased compensation Por the deputies oP such various officers and that the compensation of Peace Offi- cers be fixed on a salary basis for the fiscal year of 1954.
