THIS AGREEMENT, made and exeouted this 12th day of September 1960, by and be txeen the

WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States has emoted the Library Servio ae Aot, Publ is
Law 597. approved Juno 19. 19$6. "to promote the further extension by the several States, of
public library service to rural areas without such aervic ea or xith inadequate aervioea; "' and
WHEREAS, it Se required of each State, in order to qualify for say sum made available to
it, submit a plan for the ilu~ther extenalon of public library service to rural erase; and
WHEREAS, the State Librarian has oreated a mw division of the Texea State Library, known
sa the Tessa Library Service to supplement the present Eateasion Division during the Eive-year
period under the Aot, and has a state plan Por rural library development, approved by the U.S,

Tha State Library agrees to:
1. The State Library x111 furnish books for the multi-county library eyatem oa indefinite
as long ea the multi-oounty eyatem is retained. The amount of books purchased will depend
the amount oS county library funds available to the Texatl State Library ae matching fund
to be included Sn the Texas Plea for the Further Extension of Library Services to Rural Areas.
2, The Texas State Library will furnish such additional services as may become neaeseary
in book processing, publicity help on the ttailti-county ayatem, in service training programs,
and the full development oP aooperatlve library prac tlcea in the area.
This Agreement 1s valid end binding only in the event that each county in the multi-count
library ayetom which Kerr-County proposes to loin, enters into a valid and binding agreement
with the State Library to participate in the State Program for the Further Extension of Public
Library Service Lo Rural Areas through a multi-county library ayatem,
