Counties; and
WHEREAS, the present and projected rate of industrial development of the Kerr County,
Texas, trade area is deemed to require the continuation of adequate rail service between ._..
Kerrville and San Antonio, Texas; and
WHEREAS, the proposed discontinuance of rail service as aforesaid would serve to
seriously impair the current trend of area industrial development which has been based upon
the material benefit of available dependable railroad service.
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved by the Commissioners Court of Kerr County, Texas,
speaking on behalf of the people and the industries of the area, that this Court does here-
by vigorously protest and object to any proposal to discontinue railroad service between
Kerrville and San Antonio, Texas; and
BE IT FUR'T'HER RESOLVED that the Commissioners Court of Kerr County, Texas, does here-
by petition the Honorable Interstate Commerce Commission to deny the present application
for the proposed discontinuance of rail service to Kerrville, Texas, pending the outcome
of existing good faith negotiations to acquire through purchase the section of railroad
line proposed to be affected or, that in the alternative, the Southern Pacific Railroad
be given the opportunity to reconsider of its request for discontinuance.

NOTIC?, OF MAINTENANCE TAX ELECTION
Notice is hereby given that a maintenance tax election will be held in the Divide
School District on April 4, 1970, at the places and on the proposition set forth in the
following substantial copy of order for maintenance tax election adopted by the Commis-
sinners' Court of Kerr County, Texas, on the 13th day of March, 1870:
"WHEREAS this court has been requested to submit to the electors of Divide School
District qualified to vote in tax elections, the proposition for maintenance tax herein-
after mentioned;
"THEREFORE, BE IT ORDERED BY THE COM1~fISSIOSdER5' COURT OF KERR COUNTY, TEXAS:
That an election be held in said Divide School District on the 4th day of April,
1970, at which election the following proposition shall be submitted to the resident,
qualified electors of said School District, who own taxable property therein and who have
duly rendered same for taxation for their action thereupon:
PROPOSITION
Shall the Commissioners' Court of Kerr County, Texas, be authorized to levy, and
cause to be assessed and collected annual ad valorem tax of not to exceed X1.50 on each
X100.00 valuation of taxable property in said Divide Common School District for the further
maintenance of the public free schools therein?
That said election shall be held at the following place in said School District, and
the following named persons are hereby appointed officers for said election:
(a) At Divide School Building in Mountain Home, Texas, in said School District, with
1~1rs. Emil Fossler as Presiding Judge, and P•'irs. Felix Klein, Clerk.
The polls at the above designated polling places shall on said election day be open
from 8:00 o'clock A.M. to 7:00 o'clock P.M.
Mrs. Helen Hall is hereby appointed Clerk for absentee voting, and rlrs. Co rdelia Klein
is hereby appointed Deputy Clerk for absentee voting. The absentee voting for the above
designated election shall be held at Divide School Building within the boundaries of the
above named District and said place of absentee voting shall remain open for at least eight
hours on each day for absentee voting which is not a Saturday, a Sunday, or an official
State holiday, beginning on the 20th day and continuing through the 4th day preceding the
date of said election. Said place of voting shall remain open between the hours of 8:00
a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on each day for said absentee voting. The above described place for
absentee voting is also the absentee clerk's mailing address to which ballot applications
and ballots voted by mail may be sent.

Place an "X" in the square beside the statement indicating the way you wish to vote.

None but resident, qualified, property taxpaying voters of said School District who
own taxable property in said School District and who have duly rendered the same for taxa-
tion shall be allowed to vote at said election.
The manner of holding said election shall be governed as near as may be by the Texas
Election Code and immediately after said election has been held the officials holding the
same shall make returns of the result thereof to this court and return the ballot box to
the county clerk for safekeeping.

BEFORE ME, the undersigned authority, on this day personally appeared Forrest Salter, who
being by me duly sworn deposes and says:
1. That he is the Publisher of the Kerrville Mountain Sun, a newspaper of general
circulation in the Divide School District, Kerr County, Texas.
2. That he published a true copy of Notice of Maintenance Tax Election hereto attach-
ed in said paper one time in its issue of March 18, 1970. The date of said publication
being not more than twenty-five days nor less than ten days before the date of the election
mentioned in said Notice.
