AS DEPUTY SHERIFF - SPECIAL INVESTIGATOR OF KERR COUNTY
On this the 11th day of July 1977, upon motion made by Commissioner Stone, seconded by
- Commissioner Lich, the Court unanimously approved the request of Paul Fields, Sheriff, for
appointment of L. H. Purvis as Deputy Sheriff and Special Investigator of Kerr County, Texas,
and that his salary be set at $2400.00 per annum, plus expense allowance of $200.00 per month,
plus auto allowance of $250.00 per month, until such time as County owned transportation is
furnished. Said salary and allowances effective July 15, 1977, payable out of Revenue Sharing
Trust Fund.

On this the 11th day of July 1977, upon motion made by Commissioner Sallee, seconded by
Commissioner Lich, the Court unanimously approved the request of Paul Fields, Sheriff, for
employment of Don R, McNew as Courthouse Nightwatchman of Kerr County, Texas, effective as of
July 1, 1977,and that his salary be set on an hourly basis @ $2.90 per hour, payable out of
Officers Salary Fund.

Clerk of Kerr County, Texas, for merit raises for Pearl McEwen, Deputy County Clerk, from
$6865.00 per annum to $7165.00 per annum and Donna Witt, Deputy County Clerk, from $6570.00
per annum to $6870.00 per annum, said increases in salary to be effective as of July 1, 1977.

PETITION FOR DISCONTINUANCE OF COUNTY ROAD
TO THE HONORABLE COMMISSIONERS COURT OF KERR COUNTY, TEXAS:
COMES NOW, A. D. Werner of the County of Kerr, State of Texas, and respectfully file
this his application and petition, pursuant to the provisions of Art. 6705 V.T.C.S., signed by
at least eight (8) freeholders in the precinct in which the hereinafter mentioned road is
located, to discontinue the public road more fully hereinafter described, including specifically
a description of the beginning and termination of such road, after the expiration of at least
twenty (20) days notice by written advertisement of applicant's intended application, posted
at the courthouse door of Kerr County, Texas, and at two other public places in the vicinity
of the route of such road, and for such application and petition your applicant would respect-
fully show to the Commissioners Court of Kerr County, Texas, that he is the owner of all of
the property on both sides and at the end of the hereinafter described public road; that there
is no public necessity that such road be used by the public by reason of the fact that said
road is wholly within the lands owned by A. D. Werner; and that the same should be closed and
discontinued.
The public road which your applicant desires to be discontinued and closed is more
fully described as follows, to-wit:
County road enters 71 Ranch near the Kerr-Bandera County line in Kerr County, said
entrance point being approximately S. 30 .° 17' 32" E, 4589 feet from the North corner of
Survey No. 1308, T. L. Keese, Abstract No. 589. County road passes thru the 71 Ranch in a
Northwesterly direction and leaves the 71 Ranch at a gate entrance into the former Jep White -1-
Ranch, said gate being approximately N 32° 13' S4" W, 2462 feet from aforesaid North corner
of Survey No. 1308.
Since your applicant, A. D. Werner, is the owner of the property on both sides and at
the end of the above described land, your applicant prays that the Commissioners Court also
order that Kerr County, Texas, execute and deliver to A. D. Werner a Quitclaim Deed to the
following described property, to-wit:
County road enters 71 Ranch near the Kerr-Bandera County line in Kerr County,
said entrance point being approximately S. 30° 17' 32" E, 4589 feet from the North corner
of Survey No. 1308, T. L. Keese, Abstract No. 589. County road passes thru the 71 Ranch in
a Northwesterly direction and leaves the 71 Ranch at a gate entrance into the former Jep
White Ranch, said gate being approximately N 32° 13' S4" W, 2462 feet from aforesaid North
corner of Survey No. 1308.

Court of Kerr County, Texas, with a quorum present, came on to be considered by the Commis-
sioners Court of Kerr County, Texas, at a regular term of such Court, the matter of the appli=
cation and Petition for Discontinuance of County Road heretofore filed by A. D. Werner,
pursuant to the provisions of Art. 6705, V.T.C.S., to discontinue the public road more fully
hereinafter described, and the Commissioners Court after having considered and fully dis-
cussed and understood such matter finds as a fact or facts that such application and petition
is signed by at least eight (8) freeholders in the precinct in which the hereinafter mentioned
road is located; that the public road petitioned to be discontinued is fully described in
such application and petition, including specifically a description of the beginning and
termination of such road; that the applicant has given notice by written advertisement of his
intended application and petition; that such written notice was posted at the courthouse door
public
of the County Courthouse of Kerr County, Texas, Kerrville, Texas, and at two other/places in
the vicinity of the route of such road, the same being at the beginning and termination of
such road; that such written notice was posted at said places more that at least twenty (20)
days prior to the date of the granting of this order; that A. D. Werner is the owner of all
of the property on both sides and at the end of the hereinafter described public road; that
there is no public necessity that such road be used by the public by reason of the fact that
said road is wholly within the lands owned by A. D. Werner; and that said road should be
closed and discontinued; that all prerequisites of law, whether mentioned specifically herein

It is therefore, ORDERED that the following described public road be discontinued and
closed, such road being more fully described as follows, to-wit:

be and he is hereby authorized and empowered to execute and deliver to A. D. Werner for and

all the right, title and interest and estate of Kerr County, Texas, in and to the following

NO. 13052 TRANSFER OF $10,000.00 FROM GENERAL FUND TO OFFICERS SALARY FUND
On this the 11th day of July 1977, upon motion made by Commissioner Stone, seconded by
Commissioner Sallee, the Court unanimously approved that the Clerk and Treasurer be authorized
to transfer the sum of $10,000.00 from the General Fund to the Officers Salary Fund.

are hereby authorized to apportion the sum of $15,000.00 from the General Road and Bridge
Fund to the four Road and Bridge Precincts, as follows:
