tion of Doris Lee Smith, Tax Assessor-Collector, for authority to deputize the following
persons. It appearing to the Court that said officer is entitled to said deputies and that
her application should be granted: therefore, on motion made by Commissioner Speakmon, second

N0. 14239 CONSENT TO THE APPOINTT•4ENT TO FILL A VACANCY IN THE OFFICE OF ASSISTANT COUNTY
ATTORNEY
On this the 1st day of January, 1981, came on to be considered by the Commissioners'
Court of Kerr County, Texas, the matter of consenting to the appointment to fill a vacancy in
the office of Assistant County Attorney to serve at a rate of compensation to be set by the
Commissioners' Court of Kerr County, Texas, at the special instance and request of and for a

~iperiod of time to be determined by County Attorney, H. Ritman Jons; and it appearing that a
'need exists to fill the vacancy in the office of Assistant County Attorney which will exist
after December 31, 1980; and it appearing that the said H. Ritman Jons, County Attorney, has
recommended the appointment of Gary E. Kersey to the office of Assistant County Attorney,
-~ effective January 1, 1981; and it further appearing that the said Gary E. Kersey is duly

licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney and counselor at law in all the Courts of
the State of Texas; and it further appearing that the County Attorney is authorized and
empowered under the terms and provisions of Art. 331, Revised Civil Statutes of Texas, to
make such an appointment with the consent of the Commissioners' Court; it is hereby ordered
upon motion of Commissioner Holland, seconded by Commissioner Lich, and unanimously approved
by the Court, that the Commissioners' Court of Kerr County grant its consent to the appoint-
ment of Gary E. Kersey, to the office of Assistant County Attorney, effective January 1,
1981; the said Gary E. Kersey, to have the same powers and authority as the County Attorney
and to serve at the will of the said County Attorney. This consent is subject, however, to
the said Gary E. Kersey taking the official oath of office and depositing it in the office
of the County Clerk.
