ORDER N0. 14387 MOTION TO ACCEPT PLAN A AS PRESENTED IN PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING PROPOSALS FOR REALIGNMENT OF KERR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS' PRECINCTS IPd ACCORDANCE WITH 1980 CENSUS DATA On this the 29th day of June 1981, a motion was made by Commissioner Lich to accept PLAN A, as presented in the public hearing, regarding proposals for realignment of Kerr County Commissioners' Precincts, in accordance with the 1980 Census Data and to submit said plan to the Justice Department for approval. The motion was seconded by Commissioner Speakmon, with Commissioners Speakmon, Lich and County Judge Neunhoffer voting "AYE" and Commissioners Holland and Guthrie voting "NO", said motion carrying by a majority vote. (25°7n of total equals 7, 195. ) Any proposed plan requires submission to the Departrent of Justice for approval after public hearing has been held and a proposed plan has been adopted by the Commissioners' Court. The calculations here submitted would result in the elimination of present election precinct 13 (Precinct 19 could be renumbered 13) by dividing it between present precincts 16 and lti. Portions of precinct 18 would be added to precinct 14 (Commissioners' Precinct 3) and the realigned precinct 16 would be added to Commissioners' Precinct 4. That portion of present election precincts 1 and 7 east of State Highway 16 and south of F. M. Road 2731 would be added to election precinct 15. (Commissioners' Precinct 2. ) This proposal would also eliminate the long narrow configuration of election precinct 13 and the one block wide corridor ,connecting the present two segments of Commissioners' Precinct 1, which present configuration would likely tend to cause the Department of Justice to question their propriety. The various election precincts would have to be redefined following Justice Department approval of the plan for the Commissioners' Precincts. None of the present Justice of the Peace Precincts would require any realignment.
