Neely Airport Manager CITY OF KERRVILLE 600 Main Street Kerrville, Texas 78028 RE: AIRPORT OVERLAY PROJECT Dear Mr. Neely: After a review of the bids received on Monday, July 11, 1983, and discussion with both the apparent low bidder, Olmos Equipment Company and Ron Hess with the F.A.A., we have the following recommendations for your review and consideration. Mr. Welch of Olmos Equipment Company has volunteered to reduce the price of prime coat materials $12,000 by reducing the quantity of materials required from 25,000 gallons to 15,000 gallons. This gives a construction cost price on the base bid of $458,282.50, on Alternate I to $449,050.50, Alternate IA to $421,418.50 and Alternate II to $296,615.00. We recommend that Alternate IA as adjusted above be accepted and the contract awarded to Olmos Equipment Company. Alternate IA consists of reprofiling the longitudinal grade of Runway 12/30; adjusting the grade of taxiway at the Dugosh entrance; and includes the use of 8" of the existing base material as sub-base and 10" of new base material in the re- work area, plus 2" overlay over the entire runway. The total cost of the project would then include the $421,418.50 construction cost, $31,184.97 engineering survey cost, plus soils lab expenses that we are currently estimating at approximately $5,000.00 for a total of $457,603.47. Per the letter dated July 6, 1983 from George Conley, Manager Safety/Standards Branch, F.A.A., Fort Worth, the award could be made subject to concurrence of F.A.A.
