APPROVAL OF ENGINEERING FIRM OF HUNTER ASSOCIATES, INC. FOR
SERVICES TO FACILITATE CLOSURE OF LANDFILL SITE 510
On this the 15th day of October 1985, upon motion made by
Commissioner Higgins, seconded by Commissioner Lich, the
Court unanimously approved selection of the engineering
firm of Hunter Associates, Inc., in concurrence with the
City of Kerrville, for engineering services to be performed
to provide the required "Site Completion and Closure Plan"
at the old landfill operation on the 49 acre tract, known
as Landfill Site 510.

and County:
1. Trinity Engineering Testing Corporation to assure
quality control on Runway 12/30 extension, taxiway
extensions and Airport Loop Road, and
2. Hunter Associates, Inc. to facilitate closure of
Landfill Site 510.
We would appreciate your placing these items on the next
County Commissioners' agenda for their consideration.

It is understood that the City of Kerrville desires to formally close its '`
old landfill operation on ,the 49 acre tract known by the Health Department
as Permit No. 510. Previous conversations with your office have yielded a
general scope of engineering services to be performed to provide the required
"Site Completion and Closure Plan". The scope of services would include the
preparation of a map showing the following required Health Department items:
1. Proposed final contours.
2. Side slopes and top grades.
3. Proposed surface drainage facilities.
4. Protection measures for areas subject to 100-yr. frequency.
5. Location of solid wastes.
In addition to the required map, specifications for the installation of 6"
of impermeable clay in the final cover (as per July 29, 1983 letter from
Health Dept.) will be provided which will explain the testing and construction
methods to be used.

The.scope of services proposed herein (and by telephone conversation previously)
does not include any surveying. The above engineering work would be performed
using survey information supplied by the City, Such information would consist
of current contours and locations of existing solid waste trenches, areas, and
pits. An aerial survey of the 49 acres showing contours and other topographi-
cal'features could be obtained by the City for approximately $2,800 to $3,000.
It is understood that no competition is being made to the City for engineering
services, and that Hunter Associates, Inc. has been again retained on an as-
needed basis for this continued landfill work. It is estimated that the engin-
eering work proposed herein (no surveying) could be performed for $5,500 to
$6,000, given a work order in the very near future.
