BOX 1572 KERRVII~LE, TEXAS 78028 October 10, 1986 Mr. Fred Holland, Commissioner Kerr County Precinct No. 1 Kerr County Courthouse Kerrville, Texas 78028 Dear Fred (512) 896-7557 Pursuant to our meeting yesterday concerning the indigent health care rates for the indigents of Kerr County, we of Kerr County Emergency Medical Service are pleased to cooperate with .;p~ ;; you in an attempt to make the program work in our county. Effective October 15, 1986, we will deviate from the contracted prices and utilize the following price structure: 1. Emergency transfers $90.00 2. Routine transfers 70.00 3. In Kerr County mileage 1.50 per mile 4. Out of Kerr County mileage 2.00 per mile 5. Waiting time 25.00 per hour The above rates are all subject to a ten percent (10~) discount, making them the same as the current payments that we receive from N.edicade. In addition, if we are allowed to schedule the transfers on a return trip to Kerrville, we can make a further reduction in rates and allow the following rates: 1. Transfer fee $70.00 2. Mileage rate 1.50 per mile Again, the ten percent (100) discount will apply to these rates. However, I stress that these rates will only apply in cases where we can haul indigent care patients on a return trip to Kerrville. In conjunction with the indigent care program, we also will honor your request for a discount rate for the prisoners taken from the jail to Sid Peterson Hospital. This rate will be the $90.00 fee, less a ten percent (10~) discount, again in conformity with the Medicade rate. If these rates meet with your approval and that of the Commissioners' Court, please send me an acceptance letter as soon as possible, so that we can implement the billing process for this program. Also, as I told you, it would certainly aid our billing process if we could have a list of the people who are qualified for this program so that the billing is correct. ' If you have any further questions concerning this matter, please feel free to contact me. I am always happy to assist you in any way that I can. Sincerely yours /s/ James J. Taylor /t/ James J.
