._.. N0. 16551 RESOLUTION Whereas, the Future Farmers and Vocational Agriculture programs in Texas Schools have proven to be valuable and constructive over many years, and Whereas, well-meaning school reforms, passed in 1984, been used as an excuse to bring Voca- ', tional Agriculture and its companion program, Future Farmers of America, to a point where many of their activities face reduction or curtailment statewide, and. Whereas, Vocational Agriculture and Future Farmers of America are worth the effort to save because of their intrinsic value to the rural and urban education process, and Whereas, Texas Agriculture Commissioner Jim Hightower and other leaders in Texas government and the private sector have initiated a plan to restore funding to the now non-existent Vo-Ag field staff operations, and Whereas the plan to restore field staff positions would only replace six of the 15 lost positions at a cost of less than $200,000 per year to the State of Texas, therefore Be it resolved that the Commissioners Court of the County of Kerr is sympathetic to the -~O.J plight of Vocational Agriculture, and ~ Be it further resolved that this Commissioners Court, County of Kerr, on this day March 10th, 1986, wholeheartedly endorse and adopts this resolution. Motion made by Commissioner Lich, seconded by Commissioner Guthrie and unanimously approved by the Court. /s/ Gordon S. Morriss /t/ Gordon S.
