The supervisor is responsible for immediately notifying the appropriate elected official or department head and the county treasurer. An employee who resigns without sufficient notice is subject to having a written reprimand placed in his or her personnel file documenting this violation of personnel policies. 13.03 The county is a member of the Texas County and District Retire- RETIREMENT ment System. Employees who retire must submit their retirement resignation to the county treasurer's office in time for an application to retire to be received by the office of the Texas County and District Retirement System at least 30 days and not more than 90 days prior to the date on which the retirement is to become effective. The effective date specified in the application must be the last day of a calendar month and shall not be a date preceding the termination of the member's employment with the county. The mandatory retirement age for all employees of Kerr County is age 70, provided that the effective date of retirement occurs at the end of the fiscal year in which the retirement age is reached. The commissioners court may approve the continuation of employment of persons beyond the end of the fiscal year in which their 70th birthday occurs if specific action to 'do so is requested by the employee and approved by the department head in the department in which the employee works.
