WHEREAS, Kerrville is a growing Hill Country Community of 19,000 in population, and has been working with other law enforcement agencies in our area in a concentrated effort to combat narcotics; and WHEREAS, Since October, 1986, Kerrville has averaged more than ten (10) narcotic arrests per month and seized over $143,000 in narcotics; and WHEREAS, Kerrville has shown it can produce results that are tangible; and: WHEREAS, The Kerrville Police Department is currently combatting narcotics with a four man Narcotic Enforcement Team with only $2,500.00 with which to purchase intelligence and narcotics; and WHEREAS, the Police Department desperately needs financial assistance to implement a large scale assault on the drug problems; and 6VHEREAS, Funding is also needed to educate our children in the dangers of drugs, and to attack the drug problems as they exist in our community; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COMMISSIONERS' COURT OF KERR COUNTY, TEXAS: The Commissioners' Court of Kerr County, Texas hereby requests funds for the Kerrville Police Department to be able to establish and maintain a Four County Narcotic Enforcement Team, comprised of Kerr, Bandera, Kendall and Gillespie counties; all of which are members of the Alamo Area Council of Governments and comprise the 216th District Court under the direction of District Attorney Bruce Curry.
