APPROVAL OF PAYMENT OF KERR COUNTY'S PORTION OF JUDICIAL
LIABILITY INSURANCE OF V. MURRAY JORDAN, DISTRICT JUDGE
OF THE 198th JUDICIAL DISTRICT, FOR THE YEAR FEBRUARY
FEBRUARY 1987 TO FEBRUARY 1988
On this the 19th day of March 1987, upon motion made by
Commissioner Holland, seconded by Commissioner Baldwin,
with Commissioners Holland and Baldwin and County Judge
Edwards voting "AYE" and Commissioners Ray and Lich voting
"NAY", said motion carrying by a majority vote, approving
that payment be made for Kerr County's portion of Judicial
Liability Insurance of V. Murray Jordan, District Judge
of the 198th Judicial District, in the amount of $691.87,
for the year February 1987 to February 1988.
It is ordered by the Court that the County Treasurer and
County Auditor be authorized to draw a voucher on the General
Fund, payable to V. Murray Jordan in the above amount for
Kerr County's portion.

For the last 10 years Z have paid my own Judicial Liability Insurance
which has run abbut $400.00 per year. The Company (Texas Lawyers Insurance
Exchange) has advised me that coverage for the year February 1987 to February 1988,
will be $1,126.00. In addition to the above there have been numerous out of
pocket expenses for which I have not requested assistance. The State's travel
expense always runs out several months before the end of the fiscal year. I
have always paid for all letterheads, supplies, office expenses (McCulloch County
furnishes 100.00 per month for telephone, office rent, etc.) For ten years
I have paid for a secretary without help from state or county.
~I have been sued several times for judicial action including a ten
million dollar action in Federal Court.
There has never been a recovery but there are numerous costs and concerns
with each case.

The liability insurance should be paid by the counties of the district,
therefore, I am submitting the following (based on population) for your
consideration:
