G. Young Institute of County Government, for the 29th Annual County Judges and Com- missioners' Conference at Texas A & P4. It is ordered by the Court that the County Treasurer and County Auditor be authorized to draw a voucher on the General Fund in the above amount, payable to V. G. Young Institute of County Government. (Conference to be held February 24th, 25th, and 26th, 19II7.) It is further ordered by the Court that County Judge Danny R. Topics for e~ounty commissioners will include: "Opere- lion ofthe Commissioners Court", "Overweight Vehicle Permits", "A Panel Discussion On Solid Waste", "Subdivision Plat Approval", "Purchasing", "Ethics For A County Commissioner", "Emergency 911", "Good Public Relations" and "Public Officials' Liability". Highlights of the 1987 conference will be an address by the Texas Supreme Court Chief Justice, The Honorable John L. Hill, Jr., and an hour presentation entitled: "Legal Research: Using the Toots & Attorney General's Opinions". Attendance at this last presentation is required of county judges who wish to cam the full eight hours of judicial training credit. Texas Governor Bill Clements will also be invited to speak. Printed programs for the conference will be mailed to county Extension agents approximately four weeks before the conference. Reg~stratioa The registration tee for each county judge, county commissioner or guest is $55. The fee for the special ladies program for spouses and guests is $25. These fees entitle registrants to admission to all sessions and the social programs, The commissioners courts are within the bounds of the law to pay expenses for those attending these conferences in as much as the educational conferences are designed to increase efficiency of the county offices. We refer you to Article 3899b of Vernon's Civil Statutes. The Internal Revenue Code permits income tax deductions with certain limitations for educational expenses. To register, simply return the form provided, with your check for the required fees made payable to Texas Agricultural Extension Service #20200. Registration will be accepted at the door, so please do not stay away if you can not pre-register. ~aC2I~{fOIIS Persons who pre-register but are unable to attend will, upon application in writing, receive a full refund of the registration fee. All refunds will be processed by mail after the conference has been conducted. Partial registraiion fees or refunds cannot be accepted or handled. ACI~10aZtI IafOtII18ti0a The Brazos County Commissioners Court will again host a Reception and Bar- becue at The Brazos Center on Tuesday Evening February 24th, beginning at 6:00 p.m. Following the Reception, at 8:30 p.m. plan to enjoy some of the best barbecue in the Brazos Valley! Dress is casual or western. Personal transportation is required to the nearby Brazos Center. It is very easy to find and maps will be available at the registration desks. A fun-filled, educational program is planned for lady spouses and guests who attend on Wednesday February 25,1987 at The Brazos Center. Transportation will be provided from the Hilton Hotel. The program will include "Entertaining On A Shoe- string" and a presentation and exhibits relating to "Wines of Texas". During the catered luncheon, the Ladies Activities Committee is planning to have the wife of an experienced county commissioner present "How To Be A Supportive Spouse Of An , Elected Couni Official". Following lunch, there will bean optional shopping trip"to- the Post Oak Mall in College Station. Spouses who do not care to go shopping will be transported back to the Hilton Hotel. At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday night, the annual banquet will be held. Dress is semiformal. There will be entertainment -Dolly Parton has been invited to be with us - and a banquet speaker.
