Boerne, Texaa 78006 * 512-2l9-8098 DATA REQUESTED BY JUDGE EDWARDS TOs Honorable Danny Edwards, Rerr Co. Box 575 Hunt, Texas 78024 238-4268 ,~. ~4 Sites 4.931 Acre Tract Lot 3, Block 3 Hills 'N Dales Subdivision Kerr County, Texas The following data is taken from a 34 page laboratory report published by the National Sanitation Foundation and certified by the Vice President of Technical Services, Nina I McClelland, PhD; the report is dated April 1, 1974. FIVE DAY BIOCHEMICAL OXYGEN DEMAND (BODE) INFLUENT-- BODS, determined in 120 observations, ranged from 100 to 739 mg/1... PLANT J-153 EFFLUENT-- Based on 123 measurements, the median BODE was 19 mq/1; an 89 percent reduction. SUSPENDED SOLIDS INFLUENT-- .The 121 determinations of plant influent suspended solids ranged from 68 to 1145 mg/1... PLANT J-153 EFFLUENT-- The mean value for effluent suspended solids was 25 mg/1; an 87 percent reduction. ,~ The Jet plant is classed as a Class II plant by NSF producing secondary treated effluent(as recommended by Dr Carlisle) and with the filter it is a Class I plant producing tertiary treated effluent required by Texas Water Commission if effluent is discharged to the surface). This plant does an excellent job, as you can see, without a filter. Also, consider the extreme loading indicated above in this test. An average home will never put this plant to such a test. Ms Diane White, Rt 1 Box 34A, Comfort, TX 78013, ph 995- 3934. I am so confident that the effluent ,,from this plant will exceed the requirements set by Dr Carlile that I offer to pay to have effluent samples tested by the UGRA Laboratory for a specified time. If in fact the samples show that the system does not meet or exceed the specified standards I am willing to install a filter and chlorinator at my own expense. Further, the above quoted test result showed that the effluent from the Jet plant had a median of 5.7 mg/1 dissolved oxygen(DO) and if the effluent is not chlorinated the effluent will continue to be refined by aerobic action while in the pump. tank and after dispersal in the ground. Other considerations: a) This is almost a 5 acre lot; b) There are no wells in the vicinity[public water system]; c) There is 16 to 18 inches of dark topsoil[granted the topsoil is loaded with rock. I appreciate this opportunity to meet and discuss this situation with you. Sincerely, ~/1Gi,-Y O. DATE: October 13, 1989 SUBJECT: Appeal from 0. D, Graham, P.E. concerning requirements for On-site Sewage facility, permit application #89-76. As requested in the Commissioner Court meeting Tuesday the following information is provided. ,, Criteria for the requirements is based on the Soils Suitability Guide by Dr. Carlile. The soils of this site are classed as Group D. The site has little soil with large stones to rock with fractures. This soil group does not have the characteristics needed to provide final treatment of wastewater. The numbers for proposed treatment unit is taken from the manufacturers (Jet. Inc.) literature. Lower numbers on the criteria the better.
