On this the 1st day of September 1989, Commissioner Ray made
the motion to increase the Road & Bridge fee on license
plates by $5.00 to be earmarked for the following projects:
Keith Blvd.
Thrill Hill
Guadalupe Heights Drainage
Cade Loop Bridge
After discussion Commissioner Ray withdrew his motion.

Please refer to Senate Bill 328 which was attached to the Department's recent
letter dated July 14, 1989. This bill amends the Registration Law by providing
counties with the option of imposing, in addition to the registration fee, an
extra fee in an amount ,set by the Commissioners Court that does not exceed
$10.00 for each vehicle registered in the county.
Counties which choose to collect the extra fee, to decrease or to increase the
current $5.00 fee, or to remove the extra fee beginning in registration year
1990 are statutorily required to notify the Department by commissioners court
order of their intent on or before September 1, 1989. We respectfully request
that we be notified in writing as soon as possible if your county elects to
change its current position on the County Road and Bridge Fee. Notification,
however, is not necessary if your county currently has a commissioners court
order on file with this Department, and you do riot wish to change your county's
previously established position at this time.
