charged with establishing the Texas rape examination protocol.
Nili Country Crisis Council, Kerrville, Texas
1984-1988
,}oined the HiII Country Crisis Council August 3, 1984. Helped set up the first
training course, in November of 1984, and provided the Rape Crisis
instruction. Active member of the board of directors from 1984 to 1988.
As a volunteer advocate provided in-office and telephone Rape
Intervention and Family Violence counseling, as well as worked the
hotline and provided advocacy for clients. Provided Rape Crisis workshop
for each of the council's training courses. Spoke before local groups about~~
the HCCC, crisis intervention, sexual assault, and family violence. In the
past year spent 200 hours on the hotline and 500 on-call hours as backup
and advocate.

It is in response to the recent article appearing in the
K,exrvill.e Dail Times, that I write, sulmitting my resume for c~-
sideration or ship on the Child Service Hoard.
Very early in my high school years, I discovered my interest in
working with children. I spent a great part of one scanner working with
children. I spent a great part of one stmner working with children in
the St. Iouis Children's Hume, which was sponsored by the First Christian
Church. It was that opportunity that directed my interests toward a
degree in Elementary Education!
Outing my college years, I had many varied opportunities of workin~
with c~.i.ldren. Through my church, I helped organize a Children's Church,
taught Youth Qnir and S~ulday School. Avery taiique opportunity t~.vne
when I was involved in the ground work for establishing a Criild
Development Center, in ooalnectian with the University. I also did
volunteer work with the local Head Start Program.
I have eleven years teaching experience. I have taught various
grade levels--Kindergarten through sixth grade. I cannot honestly say
which age of dtild I have enjoyed frost! Each age brings its cfia~;],enges,
as well as blessings.
My graduate work was in Beading. I received my Masters as a Reading
Specialist/Diagnostician. I began my doctAral studies, but did not
pursue them, choosing instead to have a family.
As a parent, I have been very active in wlunteering in my children's
schools. I have sensed on special coinnittees and the P2~0 Hoard.
My husband and I tran ^A Brighter child"store. Our lave of children
and their growth in learning makes our job a special ane! ~ovgh our
store, I have had the opportunity of teaching classes for children of all
ages, classes for parents and for teachers.

Our children are America's greatest resource! It is exciting that
Kerrville has an organization which helps to provide for the children of
our oo~muiity. It would certainly be a privilege to be asked to serve
on the Child Service Board.
