AN ACT
relating to ~e authority of the commissioners ~ court of a county ~ to establish standards for rural
addressing and to assn street names and numbers:
Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Texacs: .
SECTION ~ 1. Chapter 2, County Road ~ and Bridge Act (Article 6702-1, Vernon's Texas
Civil Statutesj, is amended,by adding Section 2.011 to read as follows:
..,Sec. ~Oll, (a):.In this section; "rgad'.',mearis any public road .street, or highway
that ~ zs entirely or partially located in an unincorporated area. ~ .
(b) The commissioners court of a county~may by order adopt uniform standards for
naming roads and assigning address numbers to property located in unincorporated
areas of the county, The .standards are applicable to any new roads ~ that may be
establishea~ ~ ,.
(c) The commissioners court of a county may by order adopt names for roads and.
assign address numbers to any property located in unincorporated areas of the
. county for which there is no established address system. ~ .
(d) ~'an order, adopted under this section con,~icts with a municipal ordinance, the
municipal ordinance prevails within the geographical area an which the municipal
ordinance is e,~ective.

(e) The commt;4sioners court may adopt an order under this chapter only after
conductinq~a public hearing on the proposed order.. The court shall provide at least
two wee~cs'lpubl:c notice of the hearing. , ,

calendars in both houses create an emergency and an imperative public necessity that the
con8titu~onal Tale requiring bills to be read on three several days in each ,house ~be
