ti Y Y3v i ~__ Maxey & Associates and Mike Walker gave the Court a report on their study of expansion of the Courthouse and related buildings. The jail is the number one priority at the moment as it is overcrowded. The jail at present is a 63 bed facility, and it is projected that by the year 2000 the averagee jail population will be 109 and by 2010, it will be 162. The County can either expand the present jail and bring it up to standard, or build a new facility. Maxey & Associates and Mr. Walker will meet with the Court again on Rugust 4, 1989 at 10:00 o'clock A.M. with a cost analysis of enclosing the parking area under the jail and moving booking, dispatch and visiting downstairs, as well as moving the Sheriff's office to same location, and building a misdemeanor facility at a separate location with pre-trial and post-trial separated. They will also check on the possibility of moving the recreation area to the top of the existing jail, and using the present recreation area for other uses. It will increase function, but there would be no increase in bed capacity. JUDGE EDWARDS LEFT at 2:20 o'clock P.M. and Chairman Pro Tem Ray chaired the meeting. ORDER N0. 18831 ON MR.
