ORDER N0. 18991 APPROVAL OF HIRING MARLENE KARGER IN THE KERR COUNTY EXTENSION SERVICE OFFICE On this the 6th day of September 1989, upon motion made by Commissioner Holekamp, seconded by Commissioner Morgan, the Court unanimously approved the hiring of Marlene Karger in the Kerr County Extension Service Office, effective September 7, 1989, Pay Group 12, Step 1, $13,365.00 annually, $1,113.75 monthly, $556.88 semi-monthly. l~9g/.f County Judge Edwards presented each Commissioner with a copy of the proposed 1989-1990 budget for Kerr County, and made a brief statement that he did not wholly support the proposed budget, but it was prepared as to comments of Commissioners not to raise taxes. He said it was time to bite the bullet and put all personal bias's aside. The cost of living was going up, as well as insurance and the employees of Kerr County need and deserve a raise. In the future he would like each Commissioner to spend at least one week in each office and follow the elected official or department head around and really get to know how each office functions. He said he had to draw from surplus in several departments and he suggested a raise in taxes of at least 8~, which is the rollback, or next year there would be no surplus in any office.
