COMMISSIONERS' COURT CONVENED IN SPECIAL SESSION on Monday, August 27, 1590 at 1:30 P. M. witF, all officers present except County Judge Edwards. Chairman Pro Tem Baldwin chaired the meeting. Judge Edwards arrived at 1:38 P. M. Iq'1b I.~ 216th District Judge, Steve Ables, and 198th District Judge Elect, Karl Prohl, addressed tY,e Court concerning the salary and reclassification of Aecky Gayle. Mrs. Gayle is currently secretary for the District Judges. Local Government Code 74.101 gives District Judges the authority to set up a court co-ordinating system and appoint a court co-ordinator. The District Judges also have the authority to determine reasonable compensation, subject to Commissioners' Court approval. Mrs. Gayle has been appointed as Court Co-ordinator for the 216th and 198th District Courts effective 3anvary 1, 1951 with authority to set cases far the 198th and 216th District Caurts in eight (8) counties. The District Judges are asking for her salary to be set at 517,983.00 annually. •Z Constable Precinct fit, Carl Williams, ask the Court for an increase in travel allowance due to the increase in gasoline prices. The Court decided to adjust the proposed budget in ~, several departments to compensate for the increase in gasoline. 3 The Court discussed cost of living increases for employees, elected officials and department heads. The Court was in agreement on a 4% cost of living increase for employees, but will look at expenditures before deciding if elected officials and department heads will be included in the 4% increase. The Court also met with Justice of the Peace, Precinct #2, Betty Burney, and Tax Assessor-Collector, Paula Rector. COMMISSIONERS' COURT RECESSED at 5:15 P. M. PAGE 968
