COURT COORDINATOR JOB DESCRIPTION PR7~RY DUTIES To manage, direct supervise, coordinate and plan the operations of the County Court at Law. DOCKED MANAGEMENT - Criminal Maintain and control the criminal docket for the County Court at Law. This includes the setting and preparation of weekly and monthly dockets. Attend and assist court in calling dockets to get announcements and resetting cases for date and purpose certain. Supervise notification to attorneys, defendants, and bondsmen on criminal case settings. Initiate better and Hare efficient procedures on dockets and caseflow to enable fair and speedy disposition in all criminal cases. Maintain statistical data and records on caseflow and time elements involved in cr~m;nal cases for planning and performance purposes. Set and supervise special dockets for revocation of probation hearings, pleas, and pre-trial matters. Notify jail division of defendants in custody and their scheduled dates and times for appearances in court. DOCKET MANAGEMEN' - Civil Supervise preparation and distribution of civil dockets. Keep the court informed of any changes on status of weekly and monthly dockets. Set and maintain ccxnplete ancillary docket of the court. Get trial settings for the court. Check weekly with attorneys on status of trial cases set for trial. TRIAL MANAGEMENT Set trial docket. Plan and supervise the mechanics of notice to all connected with trials. Coordinate the availability of lawyers, parties, and court personnel. Reset all cases not reached for trial. Make recrnmendations for improvements and procedures. JURY MANAGII~NT Plan and sLmmons adequate jurors for the County Court at Law fran the standpoint of both economy and efficiency based on the courts schedule and docket. Determine answers to complex inquiries from respective jurors. Maintain records and reports on juror usage for planning and recormiended improvements. RECORDS AND REPORTS Supervise record keeping of all court functions. Prepare periodic reports to the judges, ccermissioners court, and other departments. Prepare an annual report and analysis of court work. Maintain schedules, statistics, and other matters for the bench, bar and general public. PROFESSIONAL DEVEL~OPMENi` Maintain awareness of developments in court coordinators. Participate in continuing professional education programs. SECONDARY DUTIES GII~IERAL ADMINISTRATION Receptionist for judge's office. Expedite all other non-routine matters as they arise. Prepare and recommend rule changes. Plan and supervise attorney appointments. Prepare and coordinate court schedules. Prepare non-routine correspondence for judge. Additional duties as necessary. FISCAL Prepare specifications and acquire capital equipment for the court. Supervise periodic inventories. Plan the ac~~n,; sition of operating supplies. Inspect property and arrange repairs and maintenance. Prepare court budgets and assist in budgeting. Prepare budget amendments.
