Kerr County Rural Fire Prevention District No. 1 P. O. Box 387 Ingram, TX 78025 December 11, 1991 Hon. W. G. Stacy Kerr County Judge Kerr County Courthouse 700 Main Street Kerrville, Texas 78028 re: 1992 Appointments to Board of Fire Commissioners Fire District No. 1 Dear Judge Stacy: As of January 1, 1991, two vacancies will occur on the Board of Fire Commissioners, due to the expiration of the terms of William V. Best and Donald C. Oehler. As you know, appointments to the Board are made by the County Commissioners' Court. We -would like to recommend that Donald C. Oehler be re- appointed to fill his own vacancy. He has agreed to serve an additional two-year term. Mr. Oehler's membership on the Board has been an invaluable asset. His legal expertise, knowledge of the local area, and his common sense and good judgment have served us extremely well. In addition, we recommend that Rowan P. Zachry, a resident of Greenwood Forest housing area and Constable for the City of Ingram be appointed to fill the remaining vacancy. Through his own efforts, Mr. Zachry has become very familiar with the operation of the Ingram Fire Department, and he has a sincere interest in improving the overall capability of the District in fire fighting and fire prevention. Moreover, he is well versed in budget and financial procedures, as well as equipment needs and procurement. These will be major areas of concern in the near future. .~ appreciate your personal interest and that of the Commissioners' Court in matters involving the Fire District, and we look forward to working together on problems of mutual concern. Sincerely, ~~~cw l /~~G~' Elaine C~asteel cc: Commissioner Bruce Oehler Kerr County Rural Fire Prevention District No. 1 P. O. Box 387 Ingram, TX 78025 December 17, 1991 Mr. Eddie Chalmers Kerr County Appraisal District Kerrville, Texas Dear Mr. Chalmers: Chapter 794 of the Health and Safety Code, Title 9, State of Texas, "Rural Fire Prevention Districts" prescribes that the boundaries of a District be defined by "metes and bounds or other sufficient legal description" from the initial petitioning and throughout the election process. We have attached a copy of the document that defines our District. It was amended at the time the petition was submitted to include Bear Paw Ranch .Subdivision. The reason for including Bear Paw was that it is a part of the 367-prefix telephone exchange and thus in the Ingram Volunteer Fire Department's area of responsibility. The metes and bounds of the District are on file with the Kerr County Clerk. They have been consistent throughout the process of forming the District, and were formally established by the Kerr County Commissioners' Court when the District was created. We hope this will serve to correct any unintentional error regarding Bear Paw Ranch, and we will work with you in any way possible to expedite its inclusion in the tax assessment for the District.
