Subject: Funding for office space, allocation for the Kerr County Environmental
Health Department
I would like to ask the court what your plans are for this department's physical
office location, completion of the inside of the office, and the budget
allocation to do so.
I understand and hopefully the rest of the community that the Commissioners Court
is in the difficult process of preparing and completing the next fiscal year's
budget with many variables to consider.
Please inform me of your plans for:
1. Physical location of this department. Is it (a) at the present locaticn
with an extension of the city temporary use permit? (b) in the new
building at Spur 100? (c) in the Guadalupe Savings building? or, (;d)
somewhere else?
2. Budget allocation to complete office construction. If completion of the
Spur 100 building is considered, I would suggest an amount of $30,000 to
cover the completion and furnishing of the office space. This amount
should cover unknown variables at this time such as American Disability
Act requirements; outside improvements such as utility connections,
outside lighting, sidewalks, landscaping; and city code requirements, ie.
fire, safety, electrical, plumbing, public building, etc.
This amount could be less if our office is located elsewhere and then would be
adjusted accordingly.

Subject: Budget request for Environmental Health Department for fiscal year
1992-1993
Attached is the budget request worksheet for the department. It is preliminary
in nature due to uncertainties in programs and workload for the next year.
I would ask that the department budget be fully reviewed in a workshop budget to
consider funding for the following:
1. Rabies and Animal Control Program. Animal control officer with truck,
truck radio, and equipment.
2: Proposed On-Site.Sewerage Facilities Rules and Regulations. If the rules
are approved as proposed an increase will be immediately seen in fieldwork
especially for site evaluation and inspecting existing systems.
One person with equipment and truck is suggested.
3. Office relocation. Depending upon a permanent location, moving expenses
need to be considered such as utilities, telephone service, 2-way radios,
office repairs/adjustments at new location, copy machine, and small
refrigerator for water samples, film, and reagents.
Attached for your reference, is a copy of the department's office functions and
responsibilities.

motion was' made by Commissioner I_acl~ey, seconded by
Commissioner Oehler, after f~.~rther, di5c~_t5=.ion of the Road and
Bridge Department Of~Fice, Commissioner, Oehler withdrew his
motion and the Courts' decision was to look at the space
available at the Road and bridge I)epartm•~nt Office and make a
decision at ,the J~.~ly Commissioners' Co~_~rt of where the
Envir•omental' Health Office wo~_~.ld lae located.
