MEMORANDUM TO: Commissioners' Court FROM: Leonard Odom, 7r., County Road Administrator DATE: May 26, 1992 RE Reconstruction of Ranchero Road The bid for the reconstruction of Ranchero Road from Highway 16 to Nimitz School was opened this morning, and is to be awarded or rejected today. The Court set aside $100,000 in the Special Projects Annual Budget for this project. Federal Emergency Management Assistance (FEMA) allowed us another $45,500 for the severe damage caused by the heavy winter rains. Phase I, the French Drain bid, was awarded May 11, 1992, for $29,130, leaving a total of $116,370. There may not be enough funds to complete the project and time is critical, During a public meeting, citizens expressed concerns over the realignment of the roadway. They asked that we take equal land (5 ft.) on each side from the right-of--way instead of the engineered 10 ft on one side. The increased cost of the project to do this would be $1'7,000 - $20,000. The only time to address their concerns is now -- this work must be done while school is out for the summer I ask the Court to consider their request, and appropriate additional funds so the project might be awarded today.
