ORDER NO. 21005 CONSIDERATION AND DISCUSSION OF AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT REGARDING CHANGES TO MAKE COUNTY FACILITIES MORE ACCESSIBLE On this the 27th day of July 1992, upon motion made by Commissioner Morgan, seconded by Commissioner Oehler, the Court unanimously approved by a vote of 4-0-0 to post the preliminary plan for meeting the criteria of the ADA and solicit any comments the public may have. KERB COUNTY ADA TRANSITION PLAN Kerr County has made aself-assessment with the assistance of representatives from the Texas rehabilitation Commission of services and facilities; as a result the following plan has been developed. This plan is preliminary and is intended for review by interested persons and the Commissioners' Court in the development of a final plan. Suggested changes are as follows: 1. Parking - To meet the ratio of handicap spaces, 5 spaces are needed; 4 regular and 1 van. All should be on East side of Courthouse and on right side of road. 2. Ramp -Add flat resting area at corner of annex and add bottom rail on south side of ramp. 3. Main Entry -install an electric door. 4. Public Telephone -Replace phone with one for the hearing impaired at the required level and access space. 5. Restrooms - Install back-wall rails and lever mixes on sinks. Adjust entry doors to required pounds of pull, and place handicap signs on exterior. Remove any obstructions outside of restrooms that would deter entry. 6. Office Entries - Install lever attachments to door knobs or leave doors open during business hours. 7. External Communication - Install TDD devices for communication to the Sheriff, County Clerk, and Tax Collector. 8. Tax Office - Provide a point of service that will accommodate seating of the customer. 9. District Offices - Provide an alternate site on the ground floor to extend services. Publish location of the alternate location on the directory. Include instructions to request special accommodations on jury summons. Install ramp into jury and witness area. 10.
