JOB DESCRIPTION - DISTRICT CLERK'S OFFICE SENIOR CLERK PAY GROUP 13 SUPERVISOR: Linda Uecker, District Clerk Chief Deputy & Administrative Clerk WORK SCHEDULE: Mon through Fri 8AM to SPM, Some Saturdays Frequently after 5 PM into the evenings If Court does not adjourn at 5 or if a jury is deliberating. GENERALLY: This is a supervisory position which involves independent judgment. Duties include performing clerical work requiring application various complex work methods and proce- dures, in accordance with the laws and regulations control- ling the employing department, and with departmental funct- ions, policies and practices, often including legal research as it applies to the functions of this office. 1) Supervisor of child support receipts and distributions. Training other employees in child support collection. Reeping an exact record of c/s received and disbursed, as these are the official court records and very often requires testimony in court as to the accuracy and fact of the records. This process includes creating the case on the computer. This is an exacting process because any error can erroneously calculate c/s arrearages & balances. Liabilities. 2) Accept new cases for filing. Determine the amount of court costs to collect. Assign a court and case ~, docketing, indexing, reporting creating a file and creating case on computer. Determining the type of case is also necessary. 3) In charge of ordering supplies and forms used in the function of the office. 4) During the pendancy of a civil case, issue process as requested by parties upon compliance with the law. Almost always requires legal research to ensure that requests con- form with the requirement of the law. Filing, posting and tracking on computer all documents submitted for filing in the case and making sure they are put in the proper case file. Notifying the court if immediate action needs to be taken. Liabilities. 5) Keeping a calendar of civil cases scheduled, posting the setting, and sending notice of setting of either pretrial, trial or evidentuary, discovery or post-judgment hearings to all parties in the case. Issuing post judgment process, ie: notice of default, notice of judgment to all parties, issuing execut- ion, abstract of judgment, writs of garnishment, sequestrat- ion, attachment, etc, as well as notice and orders of sale, etc. indexing judgments and reporting to Tex Judicial Council and tracking case on computer and entering disposition there- of. Notifying supervisor to create trust account, invest funds for minor or prevailing party in a financial institut- ion offering the highest current rate of interest, as per order of the court.
