Re: Consideration for Group Insurance Coverage
for Robert L. Zumwalt
Dear Sirs:
I would ask your consideration and approval to enroll me in the Group Insurance Plan for County
Employees.
I have been an employee for four years, considered as a "part-time" employee for the Sheriff
Department. I feel I should be classified as a hourly employee.
I work when District Court is in session for criminal and civil juries, pre-trials, pleas, etc.
I work County Court at Law when not needed in District Court.
I help transport prisoners.
I guard prisoners at the Hospital.
1 am available for any other calls for assistance from the Sheriff.
In 1992, I worked approximately 800 hours. To me this is more than apart-time employee.
How can any employer hire someone to do Law Enforcement work without group insurance?
I could do any or all the jobs described above for a life time without problems, but just have one
"Crazy" walk into the Court Room start a fight or shooting...where is my protection?
Is the cost so great for one more person to cover such risks?
