VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT'S RADIO LICENSE
On this the 10th day o{ August 1992, upon motion made by
Commissioner Holekamp, seconded by Commissioner Oehler, the
r_ourt unanimously approved by a vot• a! 3-0-0, to approve a
resolution supporting the application of the Kerrville South
Volunteer Fire Department's radio license and authorization
for the County Judge's signature.
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The Kerrville South Volunteer Fire Department is
filing an application for a radio license from the
Federal Communications Commission.
WHEREAS, The system which is currently being used
experiences considerable interference from
surrounding non-fire and fire systems, often during
critical times.
IT IS THEREFORE
RESOLVED, That the Commissioners Court of Kerr County,
Texas, supports the application for radio license of
the KERRVILLE SOUTH VOLUNTEER FIRE
DEPARTMENT.

Kerrville South Volunteer Fire Department is preparing to file.
apllication, with coordination assistance from the International
9ssocia.tion of Fire Chiefs, for a. radio License from the Federal
Communications Commission.
This i5 being done so Llisxt this department can install a high-
hand VHF radio system which will serve the communications needs of
this depari.meni. for aC least the nest decade.
11^he princi_pa,l reason for this move to a nc~w hand ar.d frequency is
t.he. effect of crocading of users on the low band frequency of 31.180
Mhz (Plegahert~).
The system wh]c°h we ~:urrentl.y use, without a department license,
e*:peri.onces considerable interference from surrounding non-fire and
fire systems, often during critical times. This has led to confusion
during fire cal]s.
In addition, we are experiencing difficulty in locating
reasonably priced replacement lagers and mobile radios which will
operate with the current system.
FSrcaia5e of these needs, and due Co the requirement, stated in
C.F.R. Title ~7 - Faragraph 90.`Ll(a) (see attached copy of pg' 233 of
F.C. C_.Rogulrtt.iorts), we ask that the commissioners grant tts a statement
of support for this application.

(a) Eligibility. Any territory, posses-
sion, state, county, city, town, or simi-
lar governmental entity, and persons
or organizations charged with specific
fire protection activities are eligible to
hold authorizations in the Fire Radio
Service to operate radio stations for
transmission of communications essen-
tial to official fire activities of the li-
censee. Applications from persons or
organizations other than governmen-
tal entities must be accompanied by a
statement from the governmental
entity having legal jurisdiction over
the area to be served, supporting the
request.
