Dear David, Please place my clients, Richard and Carol Land, and I on the agenda for Tuesday, December 7th. The purpose of this appeal is to allow my clients to upgrade their current system. As you know they have a malfunctioning cesspool which is located beneath a portion of their home and is causing surfacing effluent. The effluent is surfacing along a portion of their foundation which is very close to their water well which is used for potable and domestic purposes. The house contains 3 bedrooms and 2200 sq. ft. of living space. The current system is unlicensed and can not be repaired to meet current standards. The soil is a sandy loam that is at least five feet deep but the lot contains only about 1800 to 2000 square feet of open area for drainfield purposes. None of this drainfield area is over 150 feet from either the Lands well or Judy Lackeys well. The Lands are interested in closing the portion of River Drive which abuts their land as this would give them additional area for drainfield purposes and could help eliminate trespassers who walk down the unimproved right of way and then trespass unto their land. A rough sketch is attached for your information. A more precise drawing will be prepared prior to the Commissioners meeting. I make this request with urgency as this situation if not acted upon quickly could lead to a structural problem for the house or an unhealthy situation for the well and household occupants.
