Sally Frederick 3758 Medina Hwy. Kerrville, Texas 78028 Mr. Bruce Oehler Kerr County Commissioner Kerrville, Texas 78028 Subject: Proposal to Establish a Polo-crosse Playing Field at the Ag Barn Dear Mr. Oehler: Kerr County is the home of one of the nation's largest polo- crosse clubs. The Texas T-Bones has a current roster of over 50 members. The county has an even greater number of potential players who would benefit from the availability of a playing field at this end of the county. We propose the establishment of a county-maintained practice area on county property adjacent to the east side parking area of the Ag Barn. Polo-crosse is an amateur sport which is family oriented. Many youth are involved. Last year at the Waldemar Classic, the tournament was attended by seventy-five players from as far away as New Mexico and Colorado. Approximately half of these were local youth. As the home of one of the premier clubs in the nation, Kerr County could possibly host a national tournament in this area within the next year. The playing area required is 160 yards by 60 yards with a 25 yard buffer zone on all sides. The area in question appears to be adequate in size to allow for rotation of playing area for turf preservation. The existing stall area could be utilized to host out-of-town participants. Respectfully submitted, Friends of Kerr County Polo-crosse y ~~~~ ~ ~ ~ : ~~
