Memorandum To: Commissioners Court From: Leonard Odom, Jr. & Franklin Johnston, P.E. Date: 05/31/1994 Subject: Diesel Fuel for Road & Bridge Recently we have had a problem getting diesel fuel delivered to the Road & Bridge yard. ~n the past we have call for 3 bids each time we ordered fuel. Each time we purchase both gasoline and diesel. Regulations on diesel has changed recently and we are having problems getting diesel delivered for off-road use. They want us to have a permit before they sell it to us without tax. We turned the permitting process over to the Auditor's Office and Tommy Tomlinson is working on it. With the permit we can purchase diesel and put it in two tanks -- one for on-road, and one for off-road. We now have only one tank for diesel. In the past the haul truck was the only vehicle we had that used on-road diesel. Now, both of the new dump trucks use diesel and we are sending them to the pumps at the gasoline suppliers to fuel. As we look toward the future, we would like some input from the Court on how we should address the fuel problems for the County. Do we purchase another tank for diesel? Should we consider fuel tanks with metersrn order to monitor usage in all vehicles and equipment? Item No. 2.11 Discussion on information on fuel purchases for Road and Bridge. On having gas cards to lmow who gets what amount of gas. June 7, 1994
