James Schmidt
Began communications career in 1966 working for Texas Department of
Public Safety as a communciations officer until 1973.
From 1973 thru 1975, worked for Texas Parks and Wildlife as a
communications officer and assisted in setting up a state wide
communciations net that was compatible with Texas Department of Public
Safety and other law enforcement agencies, this also included getting
Texas Parks and Wildlife onto the law enforcement Teletype system.
1975 - 1978, worked in private industry in the oil fields and a
volunteer with E.M.S.
1978 - 1980, worked for Tony Smith's private E.M.S. service here in
Kerrville.
1980 - 1983, worked for the Texas Department of Corrections as a medic.
1983 - 1985, worked for Cynro in private security.
1985 - 1988, worked for the Texas Department of Corrections as a
correctional officer.
1988 - 1990, worked for Field's Security in private security.
1990 to present, returned to the communciations field as a dispatcher
with the Kerr County Sheriff's Department.
Currently has Jailer Certification along with TLETS Basic
Telecommunications and TCIC/NCIC procedures certification. He also
holds a certification as an Emergency Medical Technician. Mr. Schmidt
has 13 years in the communciations field and a vast knowledge of radio
procedure and the Kerr County Sheriff's Department radio system.
