The trainees participate in simulations involving vision, hearing and mobility impairments. The sessions are designed to enhance sensitivity toward persons with disabilities. The format is a hands on experience. Most significantly, the training is led by persons who have personal experience of disabilities and/or persons who are directly involved with persons with disabilities. FEE: Class size is determined by you. The cost is $25 per person with a minimum charge of $250 per class. Ordinarily, training is for four hours, but specific needs and adaptability of the STAR Program allow us to be flexible. Learn to communicate with deaf persons with American Sign Language. SAILS provides a 12 hour basic course that will familiarize participants with American Sign Language. Trainees will learn the American Sign Language alphabet and some basic vocabulary. FEE: $40 per person. Minimum class size is ten and can be provided at your location or at SAILS.
