Kerrville, TX 78028 (210257 2993 FAX (210) 896-8480 TO: Commissioners' Court FROM: Franklin Johnston, P.E., County Engineer Leonard Odom, Jr., Road Administrator DATE: September 28, 1995 RE: Indian Creek Bridge We would like to clarify the maintenance responsibility of Indian Creek Bridge located where Indian Creek Road crosses the Guadalupe River, This is similar to the Water Street Bridge in Kerrville. We participate in the construction of the new bridge done by the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT), but the City of Kerrville assumes all maintenance responsibility. Indian Creek Bridge is located in the City of Ingram, Texas, and it is their responsibility to maintain the bridge. Road & Bridge has done some maintenance on the old bridge for safety, but when the Federal Emergency Managemern Agency (FEMA) was here in December 1991, they declared that the bridge was in the City -- of Ingram and paid Ingram for the damages to the bridge. TXDOT has almost completed the new structure. With the opening of the new bridge, the old structure will remain to be used as a pedestrian crossing for the City of Ingram Park. The responsibility for both the old and new structure should lie with the City of Ingram Maintenance Department as indicated by State Statue. At this time, we ask the Court to clarify by Court Order that Kerr County Road & Bridge is no responsible for these structures.
