SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF REVISED RABIES AND
ANIMAL CONTROL FEES
Attached is a suggested fee schedule that reflects all activities that a fee may be accessed. Also
enclosed is the current schedule for comparison.
The impound and quarantine fees are adjusted to reflect actual situations and costs. It also
includes fees for the Animal Facility.
The dangerous dog fees are already set by the Texas Health and Safety Code Sec. 822.043 for
registration and transfer.
The owner surrender fee is for pet owners who are giving up their animals. It is intended to
prevent a "free taxi service" for unwanted pets and prevent owners from abandoning, or turning
their animals loose to roam.
The animal delivery fee is for animals delivered to a veterinarian for rabies vaccination before
release to the owner.
Authority to establish fees is granted by the Texas Health and Safety Code Sec. 826.031(c), Sec.
826.033(c) and Sec. 826.043(c).

Any animal not kept in conformity with the Rabies and Animal Control Order and State Law may
be impounded. To retrieve an impounded anunal, the owner must pay a fee.

ANIMAL CONTROL REGISTRATION AND FEE SCHEDULE
On this the 28th day of November 1994, upon motion made by
Commissioner Lackey, seconded by Cnmmissioner Lehman, the
Court unaniaously approved by a vote of 4-0-0, to amend the
fee schedule as submitted to the Court.
