JOB DESCRIPTION: ANIMAL CONTROL FACILITY MANAGER CLASS NO: OCCUPATIONAL CATEGORY: ~~~,~~~ ~ ~~~ ~ PAY GROUP: 16 FLSA: Non-Exempt JOB TITLE: Manager OBJECTIVE: To efficiently operate and maintain the county animal control facility. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Reports to: Local health authority. 2. Directs: Oversees basic duties of shelter workers. 3. Other: Works with A.C.O.'s, veterinarians and the general public GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This is a responsible position covering all aspects of the operation and function of the animal shelter. E~AII~IPLES OF WORK: Receives and routes incoming telephone calls and visitors; Responds to routine and inforn-ational inquires about the services and program(s) admin- istered by the shelter and may be assigned primary responsibility for processing work relating to a specific function; Coordinates with A.C.O.'s for inquires about animals at shelter and missing animals; Mav he recp~ncihle fnr gatherisZg in_f~rmaton for and preparing regular reports in standardized format(s) on shelter activities; ~11ay review supply inventories and operational needs and order supplies as needed; page 2 May process registrations, complaints, and requests; Receive appropriate fees and documents; Process and record all fees received: Oversee and assist in daily cleaning and maintenance of facility; Receives visitors; May receive and dispatch call's for A.C.O.'s; vlaintains accounting records including documentation of expenditures; supplies and dis- position of all animals; Assist A.C.O.'s and workers and public with handling of animals including euthanasia; Initiates and types documents on typewriter or work processor: Initiates, and accurately maintains records on animal shelter activities, and all animals; Initiates, creates and maintains filing system; May receive, sort, and distribute mail and stuff, seal and post outgoing mail; ~Iay make some calculations by hand or using calculator; Performs such other duties as may be assigned. REQUIRED I~'VOWLEDGE. SKILLS AND ABILTTIES• Ability to care and work with animals. Knowledge of and ability to apply correct business English spelling and arithmetic; knowledge of an ability to operate modern office equipment; ability to type accurately; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and outside agencies; ability to deal effectively with public including hostile and azgumentative people; express ideas clearly; to be self starting and show initiative; organize work and to be attentive to detail; and ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed.
