E~ JIPMENT MECHANIC SUPERVIS~,.Z CLASS NO. 903A PAY GROUP: 18 OCCUPATIONAL CATEGORY: Roadway Equipment Maintenance JOB TITLE: Equipment Mechanic Supervisor GENERAL DESCRIPTION FLSA: Non Exempt Manages a small group of employees in the Road & Bridge Maintenance Shop that is responsible for the repair, maintenance, and management of a large fleet of vehicles and special equipment for Ken County. DUTIES Supervises the activities of the Maintenance Shop including assigning repair work and recommending repair procedures. Assigns maintenance functions such as car washes, preventative maintenance services and service request. Performs skilled repair and maintenance of motorized and other miscellaneous equipment. Assists during emergency (floods, hurricanes, snowstorms, accidents, etc.) to sand bridges and roads, puts up warning signs, assists the public, etc. Prepares vehicles for sale; completes repair order paperwork; orders parts; does highly skilled body repair work on motor vehicles. Assist in other areas if needed. REQUIREMENTS Graduation from High school or equivalent plus five (5) years progressively responsible experience as an auto mechanic. Related college education or technical training may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Must have one (1) year supervisory experience. If performing state safety inspections, a State Inspector's license is required. Class A - Commercial Drivers License. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Thorough knowledge, of methods of maintenance of miscellaneous equipment. Working knowledge of computer applications for automated maintenance and repair records to monitor fleet operations. Skill in the use of hand tools and equipment. Ability to instruct and lead the work of others; to diagnose and repair complex mechanical problems; and to work effectively with other employees. Ability to lift up to l 00 pounds and to follow standard safety practices of the vehicle mechanic trade. Ability to work under variable weather conditions.
