Financial assistance for such services, at a rate of $92.00 per day, will be provided only' - for Qualified Clients, defined as individuals who meet the following qualifications: 1) The client must be an adult male Ken County resident. 2) The client must be admitted under an Order for Protective Custody (OPC) issued by Kerr County, or, during non-business hours such as on weekends, under an Emergency Apprehension and Detention Warrant (EADW) issued by a Kerr County JP or other magistrate and followed by the obtaining of an OPC as soon as possible thereafter. 3) The client must complete HCIH's 7-day detoxification program; the day of intake is the first day, and the day of discharge is the last day. The only exceptions to the 7-day requirement are: ~ a) Early dischazge for emergency medical reasons (e.g., being admitted as a patient at Sid Peterson Memorial Hospital). J b) Early dischazge as a result of being transferred to TxMHMR as being a more appropriate treatment venue. ~ c) Early dischazge in order to meet admission criteria at a 28-day (or longer) residential treatment center for alcohol/chemical dependency. ~~ d) Early discharge at the request of the Kerr County Court system. AGREEMENT Hill Country Independence House agrees to accept placement or referrals by the Kerr County Sheriff's Office for Detoxification Treatment of Alcohol and/or Drug Abuse/Addiction as an alternative to arrest. The person to be referred: 1. Must be a male adult, at least 18 years old. 2. Must have committed an offense of Public Intoxication. 3. May not have been involved in any violent behavior so as to be harmful to himself or others. 4. Must be agreeable to admission for Detoxification Treatment in lieu of incarceration. The proposed patient may be apprehended without a warrant and transported directly to HCIH's facility at 976 Barnett Street, Kerrville, provided the conditions as outlined in the attached Checklist 041: Apprehension Without a Warrant are met; afterwards, the peace officer must immediately apply for an Emergency Detention Warrant. If all 5 conditions on Checklist 041 are not met, then a Warrant for Emergency Detention must be obtained prior to transporting the proposed patient to HCIH's facility (see Checklist 042). This agreement will be in effect for the duration of the contract for services between HCIH and the Texas Commission on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
