Commissioner- Dehler•, seconded by Commissioner- Holekamp, the
Court unanimously approved by a vote of 5 0-0, to approve the
proclamation entitled "Local Severe Weather Awareness Week"
and authorization of the Court signature.

I_OCRL SEVERE WEATHER AWARENESS WEEK PROCLAMATION
WHERERS, severe weather awareness week is March 5-11, 1995,
and
WHEREAS, while many areas of Texas were spared major tornado
and severe weather damage in 1994, others were less fortunate.
The vivid memories of storms in communities like Gainesville,
De Soto and Lancaster and of flooding in Southeast Texas
remain fresh in minds of most Texans, and
WHEREAS, each year beings the potential for violent weather- -
tornadoes, flooding and flash flooding, lightning, hail and
thunderstorms to our- area; annually large portions of the
State including Kerr County can be devastated by flooding and
tornadoes, and
WHERERS, no part of Texas is immune to the vagaries of severe
weather, and
WHEREAS, the Governor's Division of Emergency Management, the
National Weather- Service, and the Insurance Information
Institute urge that all citizens and visitors to Kerr County
become aware of the need to plan and prepare for- severe
weather, and
_ WHEREAS, preparedness information is available from libraries,
weather- service offices, vol~.inteer• relief organizations, and
state and local emergency management offices; and the state
and Kerr• County offer help in learning about and preparing for
severe weather emergencies, and
WHEREAS, Governor George W. B~.ish has declared the week of
March 5-11, 1995, as Severe Weather Rwareness Week in Texas,
Now Therefore

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Kerr County Commissioners' Court
urges all citizens to participate in severe weather
preparedness activities available through Kerr County,
including attention to watch and warning instructions and
their meanings, and the use of severe weather- awareness
literature far all ages and needs.
