WHEREAS, geographical variations cause large disparities in available water supplies; and, WHEREAS, a growing population will continue to increase pressure on existiug water supplies; and, WHEREAS, reliance on groundwater is facing serious limitations in many areas due to overpumping and water quality problems; and, WHEREAS, county government has inadequate power to protect citizens and landowners regarding water availability on land they may purchase for development; and, WHEREAS, eastern Kerr groundwater is drawn from the Trinity Croup Aquifers which are considered as limited sources of water; and, WHEREAS, Kerr County lies in a state-designated critical water area; THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Kerr County Commissioners Court hereby urges the Texas Legislature to grant limited powers to Kerr County to control subdivision platting relative to water availability.
