WHEREAS, geographical variations cause lazge disparities in available water supplies; and, WHEREAS, a growing population will continue to increase pressure on existing water supplies; and, WHEREAS, reliance on groundwater is facing serious limitations in many areas due to overpumping and water quality problems; and, WHEREAS, county govermnent has inadequate power to protect citizens and landowners regarding water availability on land they may purchase for development; and, WHEREAS, eastern Kerr groundwater is drawn from the Trinity Group Aquifers which are considered as limited sources of water; and, WHEREAS, Kerr County lies in astate-designated 'critical water area;' THEREFORE BE TT RESOLVED, that the Ken County Commissioners Court hereby urges the Texas Legislature to grant limited powers to Kerr County to control subdivision platting relative to water availability.
