JOB DESCRIPTION: ANIMAL CONTROL FACILITY MANAGER PAY GROUP: APPOINTED FLSA: EXEMPT JOB TITLE: MANAGER OBJECTIVE: To efficiently operate and maintain the county animal control facility. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS: 1. Reports to: Commissioners' Court 2. Directs: Oversees duties of Animal Control Facility 3. Other: Works with A.C.O.'s, veterinarians and the general public GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: This is a responsible position covering all aspects of the operation and function of the Animal Control Facility. EXAMPLES OF WORK• Receives and routes incoming telephone calls and visitors; Responds to routine and informational inquires about the services and program(s) administered by the facility and may be assigned primary responsibility for processing work relating to a specific function; Coordinates with A.C.O.'s for inquires about animals at the facility and missing animals; Responsible for all record keeping required at the facility; Responsible for all accounting duties and practices of the facility; Responsible for of preparing regular reports in standardized format(s) on facility activities to be distributed as required by the various state, county and other entities; Responsible for personnel; i.e. employment, assigning to duties, and overseeing time sheets; Reviews supply inventories and operational needs and orders supplies as needed; May process registrations, compiaints, and requests; Oversee and may assist in daily cleaning and maintenance of facility; Assist A.C.O.'s, workers, and public with handling of animals, including euthanasia; and Performs other duties as may be assigned. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABII,ITIES: Ability to care and work with animals. Knowledge of and ability to apply correct business English, spelling and arithmetic;; knowledge of an ability to operate modern office equipment; ability to type accurately; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co- workers and outside agencies; ability to deal effectively with public including hostile and argumentative people; express ideas clearly; to be self starting and show initiative; organize work and to be attentive to detail; and ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and to request clarification when needed. Will be required to be able to operate calculator, word processor, computers and two-way radios. ACCEPTABLE EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING: High school graduation or its equivalent with any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to execute work and duties described. CERTIFICATES AND LICENSES REQUIRED: Honest Bond for handling money. Valid Texas Drivers License Texas Department Health Certification for Animal Facility management and euthanasia (may be obtained after starting work) PR1'SICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must have the ability to physically move about including lifting and handling of animals, supplies, and equipment.
