Derr C~~un,.ry, :r~~xas Headwaters Underground Water Conservation District 19 September 1996 The Honorable Bob Denson Kerr County Judge Kerr County Courthouse Kerrville, Texas 78028 Dear Judge Denson: It has been reported to the Headwaters Underground Water Conservation District (HUWCD), that a well located on the property known as the Kerr County Ag Barn, has been described as being abandoned. An abandoned well is required by state law and HUWCD to be plugged, preferably with cement. We suggest that a licensed well driller accomplish the plugging, with the appropriate reports (copy enclosed), filed with the HUWCD and Texas Natural Resource Conservation Commission (TNRCC). If the well is still in a usable condition, structurally sound and prevents pathways for groundwater contamination, the well may be capped until such time it may be placed in service again. This determination shall be accomplished by a licensed well driller or registered engineer. Please provide written response to HUWCD, as to the status of the well and proposed action addressing this issue. If we may be of further assistance in this matter, please contact me. ~~~~i 213 ~~'est ~~'ater Street, Iierrcille, Tes.~ Phonc (ZlU) 89~-3110 Pas (230)251 2621 09/19/96 DENSON.DOC pf Order ~ D1o. 236?2 ;:ell 1 t0 Cap atp she Aq Barn October 29~ 1A96 X01 TJ pg '152
