J~_-dge Robert A. Denson opened the public hear~ing and t~-rn it over^ to George Pendergast. Geor~ge Pendergast gave a general histar~y an the par-kland. The Ker~r~ County Park Committee withdrew grant application Pram Texas Parks and bJild.life beca~_-se of the q~_-estians that were raised fr~om Har^vey Hilder~bran's Dffice. The Texas Parks and Wildlife never acted on the grant appplicatian. The reason for the p~_-blic hearing with the p~_-blic is to find a~_-t what are the pr^ablems with having a park. The park is not .j~_-st a parr, there are hike and bike trails, soccer^s fields, or~ flag football fields. Vario~_-s individuals talked in the public hearing expressing differ^ent concer~1~s. The major~i.ty of the peapl.e are in favar~ of the park, b~_~t against having boats on the lake and ar^e concern with the security of the park and with the poll~_-ti.an. The J~_-dge read letter from Jim Brown manager of UGRA in favor of the park pr^o.ject. Lee Spaulding spoke to the Court said ing he is in favar of the park to make this a great cnmm~_-nity. He said he wa~_-1d donate ~1, ~~~. Q-~ towards the par~k pr~n.ject and wa~_-Id let the park committee ~_~se his dopier if they need to use it. On the maintenance side of the par~k, Howard Hallimnn of .]'uveni].e and Ad1.-lt F'r^abatian said they co~_-ld ~_-se the comm~_-nity service workers. Dan Edwar~ds also spoke from J~_-veni.le and Adult Probation Office to said that the community service workers can be taken to the par-•k an Sat~_-rdays and Sundays and d~_-ring the week far maintenance and far clean ~_-p. There wo~_-ld be no cast to the par~k ar to the Ca~_-nty far^ these people to pick t-p trash and c~_-t the grass.
