Serving as first vice presi- dent of the Senior Games, "she knows every volunteer personal- ly," said Karen Tucker, Senior Games director. Richard Whitman ,director of operations and community relations at La Hacienda, won the Health Care Leadership Award, presented by Dr. Gloria Olsen, superintendent of Kerrville State Hospital. Whitman has shared his own story of addiction and recovery, plus his expertise in the treat- ment of chemical dependency, she said. La Hacienda Director Frank Sadiack called Whitman the "cheerleader to the other 130 staff members" at the treatment center, in his nomination. Grace Ayala, president of the Women's Division which spon- sors the award, presented the Outstanding Woman of the Year award to Barbara Nemec.
