I am requesting a merit increase for Philip Karasek because of his outstanding
qualifications and consistently exceptional job performance with the Kerr County
Sheriff's Department.
As a Sergeant, Deputy Karasek's salary, step/grade 20/3, $24,633, is already at the
entry level of a Lieutenant, step/grade 21/1, $24,633. Due to Deputy Karasek's
education, years of quality job performdnce and the added responsibility of
Administrative Lieutenant he will now take on, I request that he assume the salary
of step/grade, 21 /3, $25,880 annual, which does not exceed the budget line of
# 10-560-104.

• Attended Blinn Jr. College in August of 1983 and majored in Criminal Justice.
• Transferred to Sam Houston State University in December 1984 afrer completing 46
semester hours.
• Graduate of Sam Houston State in May of 1988 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in
Law Enforcement and Police Science.(Total college credits, 129 semester hours)
• Attended and completed 400 hour Basic Police Officer Academy at Victoria College
in September of 1988.
• Hired as a Patrol Deputy for the Kerr County Sheriffs Department on January 1,
1989.
• Promoted to Corporal (Sr• Deputy) in August of 1990.
• Promoted to Patrol Sergeant in April 1991.
• Promoted to Administrative Lieutenant in May of 1996.
